BIO
Jess Chen was born in Toronto, Canada. She received a BFA degree in Drawing and Painting from OCAD University and an AAS degree in Graphic Design from Parsons School of Design. Currently, she runs her own private studio in Toronto, where she practices various forms of art, including tattooing, drawing, painting, and ceramics.
Jess Chen's tattoo style revolves around the seamless fusion of botanical elements and the human form. She incorporates elements of plants and flowers into her designs to create a harmonious balance with the natural contours of the body. A unique aspect of her process is her ability to freehand the stencil directly onto her clients. This technique enables her to tailor each design specifically to the individual, ensuring a perfect fit and a truly personalized tattoo. With this approach, Jess skillfully combines the innate beauty of nature with the distinct canvas of the human body, resulting in captivating and unique works of art.
She has participated in three notable public tattooing events. In 2017, she took part in the "Tattoo Show at Tower Hill Botanic Garden" held in Boston. In 2019, she was involved in the "Inked Island Jeju" event held in South Korea. Lastly, in 2022, she participated in the "New Museum: Pop up Tattoo Parlour" event held in New York City.
